Plenty of people run marathons and jump out of aircraft for charity, but I don't know of any other dog-mushers.
Raising money for charity is something that I burn for, but it does put an added pressure on me to race the team.
The dogs train all year round, but it is the races that attract interest.
The dogs have signed up for running and racing, but not for the added pressure of raising money! So, after two seasons of fundraising, I will now take a break.
In the 2009-10 season, I raised
£265 for
The
Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
The 2010-11 season saw me supporting Norwegian Cancer Care (Kreftforeningen) and The Christie Charity. Donations came to about £250 for the Norwegian cancer charity, and £418 for The Christie Charity.
Thank you to all who made a donation! I hope to continue to support charities in the future, but I may have to do it myself by running road races.
